How this is calculated
- Insurer pays the lower of (quote × cover %) and your remaining annual limit.
- Out-of-pocket = quote − insurer − discount.
- If financed, monthly repayment uses the standard loan formula on the out-of-pocket amount.
- UK NHS patients: enter the band charge as the quote with 0% cover.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ask for a discount?
Paying upfront for a large plan, or being a long-term patient, often gets 5–10%. It never hurts to ask politely.
Should I use insurance and finance together?
Yes — claim the rebate first, then finance only the remainder. This calculator does exactly that.
Why is my insurer paying less than the percentage?
Your annual limit caps the payout. Once the limit is hit, you pay the rest regardless of the percentage.
